The Dukes of Hazard

The Dukes of Hazzard
TV Show | General Lee
The General Lee was the hot rod car that the Dukes boys used to roar about in; getting into scrapes, avoiding the cops and helping the needy. This is what was put in each 1969 Dodge Charger to make it a "General Lee".

ENGINE: The engine of the General Lee was usually a 440 Magnum, with a Holley 650 Double Pumper and an Edelbrock Torker intake. It also had headers with 3" exhausts. It was an automatic with a street-stock stall converter. Many other engines were used just depending on the job and how far they were going to jump.

LICENSE PLATE: Georgia CNH 320

TRANSMISSION: Chrysler "Torque Flite" A-727; a manual transmission was used in some episodes.

INTERIOR: The interior was tan with a console.

COLOUR: Hemi Orange (which is a fiery orange colour that can appear almost red in some light), with flat black around the rear lights, a Confederate Flag on the roof with General Lee spelled out to the side of it, and an 01 on both doors.

MODIFICATIONS: The body was stripped down to bare metal on the outside and rough spots were sanded thoroughly. After that was completed, several coats of Hemi Orange Paint were then applied. The doors were welded shut, a three point roll bar and a grill guard were all installed to protect the car during jumps. New spark plugs, new manifolds, a glass pack exhaust system, and a Dixie Horn were also installed.
